On December 26th, 2018, "Application of information technology in agriculture" R&D Group of the Faculty of Information Technology organized a workshop on "Optimal calculations and applications".
The workshop received the attendance of many researchers. Opening the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Van Hanh, group secretary, emphasized the necessity of exchanging and discussing among group members as well as promoting scientific research activities. Dr. Tran Duc Quynh, group leader and workshop chairman, introduced the purpose and meaning of "Optimal calculation" and its applications in addressing social problems.
Three presentations were delivered in the workshop including (1) Waste collection system optimization by multi-element model and simulation in Ha Giang city, Ha Giang province by Dr. Dinh Thi Hai Van, lecturer of the Faculty of Environment, in which she showed the linkage between mathematical theory and practice in optimizing waste collection system; (2) DC algorithm for problems with variable inequality constraints by Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Tam, lecturer of the Faculty of Information Technology; and (3) Solving relaxation Orienteering problem using DCA-CUT by Dr. Ta Anh Son, lecturer of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, in which he analyzed the structure of "orienteering" and proposed the new solution based on DC-CUT algorithm.
